A fitness class isn't full until you say it is
September 2, 2026
A one-on-one appointment and a group fitness class look similar on a calendar — both are just a block of time. They're not the same problem to schedule. A class has a hard capacity, a moment where the 21st person can't just be squeezed in, and a very real chance that someone drops out an hour before class starts and that spot goes to waste unless someone happens to be watching for it.
A shared calendar doesn't know what "full" means
Most generic booking tools treat a class the same as any other appointment — a time slot, open or taken. They don't cap it at a real number, which means either the studio is manually tracking headcount somewhere else, or it's just trusting people not to overbook a spin bike that doesn't exist.
Capacity has to be a real number, not a guess
Setting how many spots a class actually holds — and having the system refuse the 21st booking automatically — removes the manual headcount entirely. It's a small thing until the first time a popular instructor's class would otherwise have been overbooked by six people who all showed up expecting a bike.
The cancellation that becomes someone else's spot
A class filling up isn't the end of the story — it's usually the point where a waitlist should start doing its job. When someone cancels, the system can notify the next person in line automatically and hold that spot for them to claim, instead of the freed-up slot just sitting empty because nobody happened to check back.
A full class and a class that just looks full on somebody's clipboard are not the same thing.
Trainers still need their own calendar too
Group classes and one-on-one personal training aren't the same booking, and shouldn't share a schedule. A trainer needs their own hours and their own link, separate from the class calendar — so a 1-on-1 session doesn't get lost in the same list as a 6am spin class, and a member booking a trainer knows exactly whose calendar they're actually looking at.
The same capacity-and-waitlist engine that runs a spin class runs any bookable service — try it here:

A 6am spin class and a 1-on-1 training session are different things — each gets its own capacity, duration, and booking link.
